Lok Sabha – House of the People

The Lok Sabha, constitutionally the House of the People, is the lower house of India’s bicameral Parliament, with the upper house being the Rajya Sabha.

There are 545 total seats in the Lok Sabha. The Election Commission will hold elections to fill 543 of these seats. If the President decides that the Anglo-Indian community has not been adequately represented, persons from that community are nominated to fill the remaining two seats.

Rajya Sabha -Council of States

The Rajya Sabha, constitutionally the Council of States, is the upper house of the bicameral Parliament of India.

The current Rajya Sabha has 245 members, above the maximum membership limit of 250. In recognition of their achievements to the arts, literature, sciences, and social services, 233 members are chosen by the Vidhan Sabha, and the President proposes 12 additional members.
