10 types of Outs in cricket

There are ten ways a batsman can be dismissed in cricket. Bowled, Caught, LBW, Run out, Stumped, Hit the bill twice, Obstructing the field, Handled the ball and Timed out. There’s an 11th form of dismissal: retired out. Not retired hurt.

  • Bowled: The batsman fails to make contact with the ball, resulting in the wicket being broken.
  • Caught: A fielder successfully catches the ball after it has been struck by the batsman.
  • Leg before wicket (LBW): The batsman blocks the ball with a part of their body when it would have otherwise struck the wicket.
  • Run out: The batter is outside the popping crease when the nearest stumps are dislodged.
  • Stumped: The wicketkeeper breaks the wickets while the batter is positioned outside their crease.
  • Hit the ball twice: The batter strikes the ball twice, first in a legal manner and subsequently with intent.
  • Obstructing the field: The batter hinders fielders from executing a run out or making a catch.
  • Handled the ball: The batter touches the ball without the consent of the fielding team.
  • Timed out: The batter delays their entry onto the field for an excessive period.
