The tale of a fair justice – Read the full story

The New Story is based on the Fair Justice how King’s judgment was always fair Narendra Sen was the king of Chandrapur state. He was also very intelligent and kind. He was unique in politics. He himself understood all the sufferings and problems of the people and solved those problems to the best of his ability. Apart from all this, his greatest virtue was walking in the path of justice. He had all kinds of ways to catch criminals. So his judgment was always fair.

Every morning at a fixed time, the king would listen to the problems of the people and try to solve them. One day, while the king was discussing something with the minister, a woman named Rupali came to the king to express her grief. “Daughter, what is your sorrow?” asked the king.

Then Rupali cried and said, “Maharaj, my name is Rupali.” My husband Ramesh always goes to the city for business and comes back at night. But tomorrow he did not return. After searching, I heard that he had fallen into the river and died.

The king asked, “You have heard this, then what do you want to say?” And what else do you have to complain about?”

Rupali cried and said, “Yes, my lord.” Heard something like that. But then I heard everything from Radheshyam of the neighboring house. He is also a businessman. She also goes to the city with my husband. A river falls on the way. Sometimes both of them cross in one ship and sometimes in separate ships. Yesterday, while he was on another ship, he could see from a distance that my husband’s ship was carrying some debris. Then he saw that Nauri took the bundle of money from his hand and threw it into the Peli river. He did not know how to swim, so he drowned in the water. Hearing this, I have come to you for judgment.

On hearing this, the king immediately sent soldiers to the river bank to fetch the dead body of Rupali’s husband. And he sent some others to call Radheshyam.

“It could also be that Radheshyam is the killer,” the minister said. But the king became silent after talking to Radheshyam. In other words, he thought that he was innocent.

After some time some soldiers came and informed that the dead body of Ramesh had been found and brought to the king. The king and the minister went to see the body and sent some soldiers to call Nauri and bring it. By the time the king returned after seeing the body, Nauri was caught by the soldiers and brought to court.

“The accusation against you is that yesterday morning you killed a merchant named Ramesh by pushing him out of a boat and throwing him into the river,” asked the king.

Nauri said, “Maharaj, these are lies.” Ramesh was sitting at the back of the boat. As the boat rocked heavily on the big rocks, he fell into the water without keeping his weight. She had her doll in her hand, and she floated down the stream.”

“Why didn’t you try to raise him?” asked the king.

Nauri said, “I tried a lot, my lord! I grabbed her hair out of the water and pulled her up, but it slipped out of my hand because of the oil in it.”

The king got angry and said, “O fool, did we throw Turamesh out of the boat and throw him into the river for the sake of wealth?” I have enough evidence for that. Now if you confess your crime then go and the punishment will be reduced a little.

Seeing the king’s anger, the Nauri woman trembled with sheer fear. Then he admitted his guilt and said, “My lord, then my mind went bad; I killed Ramesh in the river out of greed for money.

The king sentenced Nauri to life imprisonment and ordered him to pay a monthly sum of money from the treasury.

The minister asked the king, “How do you know, my lord, that he is not a criminal?”

Then the king laughed and said, “Nauri said that Ramesh fell into the river ‘with the bag’.” Then I had a little doubt about him. Because even before I asked about the money bag, he became more careful and said that he fell into the water while holding the money bag. And after seeing Ramesh’s dead body, it is even easier to catch Nauri.”

The minister was surprised and asked, “How is that possible, my lord?”

“You have seen the dead body of Ramesh. His image is etched in my mind. Nauri said when Kiramesh was drowning in the water, she grabbed him by the hair to pull him out of the water. It shows that he is the real culprit.”

The minister was again surprised and asked “How is this possible?”

The king smiled a little and said, “Did Nauri say she was pulling Ramesh’s hair?”

“Yes, he did,” said the minister.

The king said “Then where is Ramesh’s hair? His head is completely covered. In other words, she had been telling lies till then. I threatened him and he obeyed.

The minister was very surprised to see such a profound intelligence of the king.
