Qutab Minar or Qutub Minar is a towering, 73-meter-high victory tower constructed in 1193 by Qutab-ud-din Aibak shortly after Delhi’s last Hindu dynasty was defeated. It is UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Qutab Minar is located at Mehrauli, South Delhi, India. This tower is the highest tower in India and tallest brick minaret in the world. It has with five different stories and projecting balconies and taper from a 15 m diameter at the base to just 2.5 m at the top. The first three floors are composed of red sandstone, with marble and sandstone for the fourth and fifth storeys.

The Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque, India’s first mosque, is located at the base of the tower. In the mosque’s courtyard, a 7-meter-high iron pillar stands. With both Arabic and Brahmi inscriptions, this 12th-century minaret is considered India’s first Islamic building. The Qutub tower has 397 steps across 5 distinct storeys . A mosque, Quwwat Ul Islam (Light of Islam), a rust-proof Iron Pillar, and Ala’i Darwaza, a domed doorway to the mosque, are also part of the Qutub complex.
