Odia or Oriya is an official script of Odisha or Orissa. Over 1000 years, the alphabet or script evolved from Eastern India’s Siddha script. Odia is a syllabic alphabet or abugida with vowels in all consonants. Vowels in syllables are written separately. When certain consonants occur together, special conjunct symbols join their basic pieces.
