  • At the base of the thumb or on the palm is the brahma tirtha, through which body and bhama are sanctified by achaman.
  • At the base of the little finger is Prajapatya Tirtha or Rusi Tirtha. At the time of marriage, these fingers are joined together with the wrist.
  • On the tips of the fingers there is a Devatirtha which is believed to be holy to offer water to the deity or God.
  • Between the index finger and the thumb is the Pitrutirtha, which is dedicated to the ancestor. In the center of the palm is the Saumyatirtha, which widens the path of worship, So the navedya or bhog is to taken at this place of hand.
