Prior to Gajapati Maharaj Shri Kapilendra Dev, the bathing ritual was held on a wooden platform at the Pratihari Recruitment Office and Biman Sarghar in the enclosure inside the temple. Later, Gajapati Shri Kapilendra Dev built the present bathing mandapa in the Anand Bazaar area of ​​the outer fence. Many years later, under the reign of Gajapati Vir Keshari Dev of the Bhoi dynasty, the stone altar of the bathing altar was erected.

On the eve of the bathing full moon, as usual on the day of the bath, the shrine is closed for a short time after the completion of all the rituals. And then the bathing full moon ritual begins. On the eve of the Devasnana Purnima, 108 kalasa water is collected and mixed with water, Ashtagandha, Krishna Aguru, Ushir, Gorchana, Devdaru, Mutha, Harital, Alla, Tamraparni, Somparni, and Lodha. Among 108 Kalasa, 35 Kalasa for Sri Jagannath, 33 Kalasa for Sri Balbhadra, 32 Kalasa for Devi Subhadra, and 18 Kalasa for Sudarshan. The Lord is dressed in Gajanan costume on this day.
